Update: due to how much lithium costs, I returned the Garmin Force and going to rock my '02 trolling motor with co-pilot (don't have a foot pedal) until I get it setup. Really want the spot lock but for now I'll deal without for life stuff at the moment.

I looked at mtech lithium, Dakota Lithium, and Amped Outdoors. I'll be going with Amped as the others are $970+ for the setup (I need lithium charger & series connector). I am sure they are great batteries, but with Amped I can get a single 24v 50Ah lithium battery, charger and free shipping out the door for $799. Starting to see why I have seen Amped so much on here . Saving the extra money will also allow me to replace the 12v wiring for 24v/50ah+ and add the circuit breaker.

    Space allowed: L 14 3/4" x W 10 1/4" x H 9 7/8" Current battery Group Size 27
    Amped Battery: L 10 1/8 x W 6 1/2 x H 8 1/4" Group Size 24

What wire size should I use?

    Thanks for yall's help.

Its been awhile but,,, I think when lund set them boats up at the factory with 24 volt trollers, and 2 batts the batterys were turned a 1/4 in the box...They might have been group 24s though. The batts in my lund are turned and to lift them in and out you almost have to stand them on end to get under the hinged door lip in your first pic. Sorry I didn't see your first post sooner.

All good! That would make sense. What batteries do you have? I have looked and I haven't been able to find any non-lithium ones that will fit.

I would agree. 2 group 24 batteries should fit that space. It'll be tight, but it should fit. I highly recommend measuring that space again, specifically the 10.25" dimension. Industry standard a group 24 is 10.25" long. Getting them both in that spot may be an exercise. Take a tape ruler to the store and measure each battery brand. Duracell lists their group 24 as 10.75". Best to actually measure.

29s, but its a Lund fisherman getting the batteries in and out involves brute strength and good back and some words that would get me banded from here....Lund couldn't have made that box any tighter if they tried
