Agree with Randy. St. Croix rods are great.
I’m a fan of any company that builds rods in America!

this rod is similar to what you listed, i would rank it either number one or two as far a sensitivity goes, among my 15 or 18 crappie rods
AVID SERIES PANFISH SPINNING - St. Croix Rod
I didn't know they offered this rod, made in Park Falls. Might have to try to talk the wife into getting me one for Christmas.
The question was What rod and what Length. Griz answered 7', ChetC showed his showed is rod, also 7', no else did. I'm just getting started, I'm 75 so I would like to buy once!
Once again, I would like to ask, "What length?" I appreciate your time and effort in answering. "Many Tight Lines". Thanks so much!
Kind Regards,

I’d like to add to my previous post a little. I like a one piece rod and the 66lf is that. Don’t know if they make a 7’lf but I’m sure I would like it. For being 6” off the mark I think it’s worth handling if you can find one. My rods in that size do multiple duties, and the action on this one fits my preference. Something else I’m finding with rods lately, some respected makers too, is cork look alike handles. They’ve figured out how to make a foam grip and put a whisper thin cork veneer over it. Good for a while but it eventually delaminates and looks bad. I have a Fenwick that has this and I’m disappointed big times. Look for a straight line as thin as a razor. If you find one, it’s not a real cork handle. Just some input to help you along the way. My biggest suggestion is to handle it before you buy, with your reel of choice if possible.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I’ve been hesitant to put my two cents because I feel rod length is a personal thing . Meaning different folks prefer a different rod length .
I own several St Croix rods from 4’6” to 9’ .
I do most of my fishing from the shore .
I use different length rods for different methods of fishing .
My favorite length for most of my fishing is a 5 or 5’6” rods . They seem a little more sensitive for jig fishing than the longer rods .
One exception has been the 6’ Avid Panfish I recently bought .
Because it has a long handle/grip section (13”) it fishes shorter .
I usually only use the longer rods when fishing float and fly .
“ The bigger the Bend , the Wider the Grin ! “
I own and fish with 3 St Croix Avid panfish rods. All three are 7 footers. Two lites and one Med Lit I fish v spinners with.
