    Default The Great Pumpkin

I often wonder why we fail to see the obvious .
If we hit the water and one color seems to be the ticket, why do others not follow ?
Now mind you even the novice anglers in some cases see that color matters .....
But then the often-experienced anglers go off into the realm of it has nothing to do with the color .....
So here in lies the dilemma , 3 guys with similar skill sets , using lots of different jigs , one opts for some natural colors ....ketched undersize crappie and lots of bass ....
fella 2 uses his favorites and ketches undersize crappie and not many of them .....
and fella 3 ,,,,ie Me tosses that there you guessed it ....
The Great Pumpkin and just hammers lots of slabs ......
So does color matter you might ask , I am here to tell you in lots of cases it TOTALLY matters , those that say otherwise , miss the chance to sling like a king for sure .....
and in the end it for sure had a ZERO to do with the level of confidence in bait colors as is often suggested and to be sure all the 3 anglers were presenting the jigs in the same fashion .
Sure you could say it was just about Halloween and Thanksgiving as some would suggest and the proverbial, Great Pumpkin scenario, but in the end, that aint it at all .....
some might think I did it just for that too .....but....
It was all about the KABOOM and or lack of ......
because for sure KABOOM is the word ya"ll

Orange has been pretty hard to beat last couple weeks for me as well. I know color matters and I totally agree. Sauce too, and none better than slab sauce.

Ketchn' is using pumpkin spice latte baits and is catching a lot of large female crappie. It works particularly well in the fall.

I have a couple of go to colors I will start with. Orange and chartreuse crappie magnets are really effective almost all the time. Then you have your standard black/char or white/char or one of JJJ's chartreuse handties. One will usually getrdone or if not switch to something else inclusing natural shad BG.

orange is a very effective color to use in the fall and spring , but there are times in the summer it is quite deadly as well . it gets a bit of rest in the winter months most of the time for me , just saying
