    Default Stick steering boat

Hello fellows I am looking at a alweld 1856 panfish stick steering boat, does anybody out there got one and can give me any information about the boat. I don’t want to pay the money for the boat sight unseen, marina that sells the boat is a few states away, dont wanta make a mistake about buying the boat.

I had a 16 foot Panfisher by Tracker. Loved it. My advice is to get the biggest motor you can and get tilt/trim. Boat will perform so much better.

Looking for stability, I now am fishing out of a 16 ft stick steering boat, just wanted to know if the 18 ft 56 inch wide boat was stable enough. When I troll now if the person in the back of the boat moves to one side, that side poles are in the water up front, that’s what I am trying to avoid. Wanting a new boat to do all the crappie fishing I like to do, dock shooting, trolling, long polling, lives opening, and just fishing treetop with one pole. Anyone got any suggestions on a perfect boat for all them fishing types. Thanks ahead for any input.

What's the beam on your current boat. I would think a 18 footer is with a 56 inch beam is going to be very stable. I have never trolled or long lined so I can't comment on that subject.

I bought my 18x56 Alweld from Andalusia Marine. I did see the This message was a lot longer and will give you other stuff privately. I personally will not do business with again. I also now remember you wanting pictures. Love the boat now

the current beam on this boat is I believe around 48 inches or so, the one I am looking at is 18 ft long 56 inches wide.

I had a 54 inch bottom on my 14.5 SS. Stability was never an issue. I don’t think you’ll have any issues at all. My nephew could stand on top of my rod locker and no issues at all with the leaning too far….and he weighs 230 pounds. So with a 56 inch bottom you’ll be on solid ground for sure.

    Regards

I'm 250 and I fish and walk the sides of mine. The lights were an add on. Worth every penny. Same for the remote anchor. I also added a another TM for side pulling with a bracket that stores the TM. At time because of wind it's easier to sit in the back and steer to dock shoot also.

    Edit
I would also speak very highly of the sidekick hydraulic steering system. Smooth as silk

Up2Specks has a boat very similar to what you describe that he bought less than a year ago. Or so. Having had a 1648 stick myself I know some of the shortcomings you want to improve. Loved everything but the rough ride and the newer shock absorber seats fix that. I think you’d love it.
