I have bass fished all of my life & had only been crappie fishing 3 times in my life until i decided i was buying a livescope & going to bare down & learn how to catch them. They're definitely not the easiest fish to figure out but i think i'll get there eventually. I finally figured a couple things out lastnight & moved a time or two then caught them pretty good vertical jigging all on livescope. Be prepared to have a signifigant learnnig curve but don't give up.

Amen or Oh Me..... but buying a LS isn't bulking down and learning how to catch a crappie. Learn their behavior based upon conditions.

Whatever that's suppose to mean i don't have a clue but what i was saying was that i was wanting to LEARN how to catch them on livescope with plastics simply because that's the only way it interests me to try it. Remember i've bass fished all my life. I also striper fish at night in spring & only artificial there too because I'm absolutely not interested in the least in fishing live bait for them & definitely not interested in fishing for crappie with minnows either. Video game style or none for me. Maybe i LEARN different than you do but if i eventually figure out something that i'm wanting to do on a regular basis then i consider that i have LEARNED to do something. By the way i said BARE down not BULKING down oh holy one.

if you want to ketch crappie on plastics ,you best carry some good scent to put on them imitations , there are times it doesn't matter , but they are way lower in numbers than when it does matter , just saying .
finding cover on the bottom is the typical way to locate them , but they also roam heavily in open waters too , one thing for certain it varies tremendously from lake to lake and is quite a challenge , good luck to you sir ....
p.s. you ever want to drag that toon up this way I will be glad to help you ketch a few

I use spikeit garlic a lot bass fishing & know that it makes a big difference sometimes when struggling to get bit so I’m sure it will to crappie too. It’s a good thing I ordered a 4 pack awhile back.

Well I learnt first hand they do travel, the otherv evening I was just scouting around the lake and I found a tremendous amount of crappie on my sonar, around some docks
Hmmm, I will be here in the morning and see if I can catch a couple, well green horn me gets to the docks and fished every one took me 2 hours fishing slow, not one bite , well 2 cat fish that were 4 inches.
Anyway I turned around headed home and this rtime instead of being in the front fishing I am now in the Captain's chair watching the sonar. Not one fish did I see on the way home the water that was rich with fish yesterday was completely void.
Lesson learned, Make sure they are still there before you fish 2 hours[smile]

Thats a phrase I picked up from my Father Inlaw. Meaning some will agree and some will disagree with what I have said. I didn't mean any ill will. Traveling is definitely a crappie behavior and sounds like you did learn.
