Don't over-think it. Crappie aren't that hard to figure out. Pay attention to depth they're holding and the thermocline, target areas you find 'em, then look for similar areas throughout the lake. They'll tell you want they want (& don't want). It's just crappie fishing.

Good fishing, have fun, & enjoy yourself. Don't forget to post pics of your success.

Hmmm, I will be here in the morning and see if I can catch a couple, well green horn me gets to the docks and fished every one took me 2 hours fishing slow, not one bite , well 2 cat fish that were 4 inches.
Anyway I turned around headed home and this rtime instead of being in the front fishing I am now in the Captain's chair watching the sonar. Not one fish did I see on the way home the water that was rich with fish yesterday was completely void.
Lesson learned, Make sure they are still there before you fish 2 hours[smile]

docks tend to best midday when the sun is beating down on them up under them ,inside in the deep shade , morning is not typically good under docks and very late afternoon when the shade leaves so do the crappie most of the time too .

Stick with it and fish the way you like. Be prepared to change your tactics if plans don’t work out!

They sure didn't want anything after about 11:30 lastnight where i was. They shut off like flipping a switch & we ran to several different places all over the lake for the next 3 hours with very little to show for it. We were catching them pretty good & when they shut off they shut off completely.

Check out how and where to make and place fish habitat. Learn to get GPS to remember and find the habitat later. That's what has helped me catch crappie even before I had any electronics. Fish habitat "build it and they will come"
Be safe and good luck fishing

That’s also what I call the 9 o’clock bite. I’ll find fish and do well and somewhere around nine , someone throws a switch and all the fish I catch would fit in a sardine can with plenty of room for company.
