we use minnows at night..anchor up and put the lights out (white and green)..then fish straight down with the minnows..once we ran out of minnows after catching about 100 crappie/perch and put a jig on..fished the jig straight down and caught fish on it

obviously all nights are not like that, but this one was

night crappie fishing is like selling real estate..location, location, location

I'm about ready to go back to bass fishing full time & say the heck with crappie. If i had somebody to learn about them from it may help but if i don't start catching some very shortly i'm done. Pretty sad when you buy livescope, baits, molds to make them, green lights etc. & still can't do s**t.
Instead of giving up use this forum and there are many members who would be happy to go out with crappie wannabe with livescope on a boat and show you how to getrdone. I have hooked up with a bunch of folks in MO and FL who have shared their boats and knowledge and helped me with ways I wasn't really good at. Have taken out others myself who had lost fishing partners and had some physical ailments and needed help getting their boats in water and helped them have some great days fishing. that's the beauty of CDC. Just put the word out and I'm sure there are folks not that far away who would love to share a day on the water with you. Or even a night.

I am always open for a road trip but not a LS or truthfully someone that uses electronics at all or boats much. more of a traditional guy that finds them by walking banks, dipping docks, using sense of smell and just wetting a lot of lines and talking to locals about what's working and where to go. for those that know me I am always talking to the guys I see ketchn or are in the bait shops or just hanging around the water. Have a network of folks at my home lakes and they keep me up with what's happening right then.

Do you guys think lighter jig heads around 1/16 would be better since it’s strictly night time we’re talking about. Also this time a year do you think main lake is better than creeks?
