if i were to throw 1 /16 to 1/8 oz jigs exclusively to get the most casting distance, what rod would be preferred

Not being a SA, but thats kinda like walking in a likker store and asking which bourbon to buy. I like BnM 7’ Sam Heaton. I also like Jim Beam but have never tried Pappy VW. What rod suits one person, the next guy hates. Try this rod, won’t break you if you dont like it

I like the BnM TCB Leland for casting.

What buckeye said. Very light in hand and well built. I have the predecessor to it that’s built on the same blank. Landed a 3 1/2 foot Gar on it a couple of weeks back so they’re tough enough. Great sensitivity.I’ve seen the combos for about $75.

That spread is to wide to make a proper recommendation. You would need one rod for the 1/16 and one for the 1/8.

6 ft Norseman VAS(grizzly jig) for the 1/16.

I would recommend not throwing a 1/8. But a Cashion CRT 7 ft would handle it.

Match a quality wide or long spool reel & light line to a 6.5' - 7' med action/fast tip rod would be my suggestion. Brand of rod/reel/line is a personal choice matter IMHO.

I agree with Buckeye and Skeet as far as the 1/16 oz goes. I don't have any 1/8 oz so I can't help their. Good luck on your search....

1/8 sinks way to fast to cast most of the time ,,,,1/16 is about best ,with a 1/32 on the top of the list for casting .
now mind you I am ONLY after crappie , not just whatever might bite ....
like my 6 foot Dobyns colt series alot , but also use a 7 foot prototype rod and a few others too.
what suits me today ,might not tomorrow , depends on casting distances , with or wthout a float and line weights and if I might drop to a 1/32 on the trip and so on and so forth .
