Haven't been out for a while and honestly didn't have a lot of confidence. On my end of the lake the water is chocked with weeds and almost 80*. I went to the other end of the lake,it has deep water and rocks. I went straight to a spot that has been pretty fruitful for me this time of year. Nothing, there was lots of small minnows, but no takers. The lake was very rough and not safe for me to try other places upwind so I went back towards the launch and looked around another trusted dock platform, no go shallow with weeds and algae everywhere. Ready to give up I just let the wind troll us along and I watched my meter. found a strong weedline on a drop off from 9 to 14 ft. going along in 14ft and steering and drifting I started seeing fish on the screen and got a no doubt strike. I had never caught anything but green carp here, but still it was the first real bite of the evening. Thought I felt another swipe at it and then bang, I set the hook into a fish that had shoulders! Again I wasn't getting really excited because of the ditch pickles. I soon saw a very thick crappie and was very excited. That one was the biggest at 151/2" and deep and thick. I caught 4 more in a small area and pretty quickly. I am so excited to have found new fish in a place I had never found them, and to have salvaged the outing. Don't know how long they will stick around the area, but I will get back after them in July!Name: 20220628_202431.jpg

Thank you all, this lake has 100 miles of shoreline, so catching good crappie in a place where I had never before caught them is a real big deal for me and expands my bag of tricks. Especially when my old haunts failed completely.
