Summer is a great time to go crappie fishing. Teaches me lessons, like- If you stay up late hooting with the owls, you can’t soar with the eagles in the morning. Summer means launching in the dark and then loading back up by 10 am. It gets pretty hot out there, but if the fish are biting…..
Maybe they will bite this one……

with our hands in many cases , much like reading brail , some of the best crappie ketchn folks I know can "see" what is going on and never look at a graph .
now of course some out there must be trained properly to be able to "see" this way , you don't just learn how to read brail overnight

I have dreams at night also.

I've fished in MN where I could actually see the fish with my own eyes and I mean every single fish. It was amazing how many would swim to your jig and never even touch it. As they turned it would cause the jig and your line to move just from the water disturbance they made. It was even more amazing how many could suck it in and spit it out fester than you could feel it or set the hook. I never once really seen a light bite, maybe a slow bite. Most don't even really bite or hit the jig, they just open their mouth and the suction that creates just moves the jig into their mouth. The rest is just imagination.

In my imagination and dreams ,I rip the fire out of the fisheez lips , I often wonder is it just my imagination or a dream , this in turn causes me to capture copious amounts of images of the captures , this way I know it wasn't just my imagination or a dream when I wake up .....
    just saying ....

So many things in this thread matches my day Saturday. I was lazy and didn't go as early as I should have but was on the water around 8 am. Not only do we have to contend with the summer heat making the bite light and sometimes just not happening, but summer also brings out the party boaters who churn up the water. As I sat in a nice little cove area before the onslaught of wake boats and such, I was able to see several fish breaking the surface, so I knew they were there. This area has an abundance of fallen trees and brush so as I worked the area, I had a few very light touches but nothing I could set the hook on, well except the tree limbs, LOL. As the sun climbed higher I actually saw the fish swim u to my jig, and just as it got to it, turn away and dive back to the depths. The water was 87 at the surface so I guess it was just too warm for them. I could see about 3 to four feet down so the water was just lightly stained. I didn't catch anything but I did learn some things. So remember my friends not all of us can be a Ketchn! But we can learn from him! thanks Ketchen

Between Ketchn, Richard Gene and others I’ve learned a lot in a whole lot less time. One other thing that helps is a good high vis line to watch on the fall.
