Default Tried vertical jigging with livescope tonight

Only lights I used was my moonlites & just drifted around after the Shad came up & I started seeing what I figured was crappie in them. I took a 2” junebug flapjack made from a do-it mold that I had made with chartreuse tails & they worked pretty good. Then I decided to try some spikeit garlic dye on them. Tried chartreuse first but orange on the tip of the tail was the ticket. Time got away & when I looked it was 3:00 in the morning so I decided to head home. Makes me feel a lot better knowing I can catch them with & without lights too so if I decide to try it any time I can & not have to worry if I don’t have lights.

Interesting, I've only ever fished at night while anchored with a green light in the water. We mostly night fish during the summer with minnows on slip bobbers. I've caught a few vertically jigging right under the light. I want to try casting jigs outside the light with a slow retrieve this year.

they used to say back when ,about 40 years ago me and my bud were crazy and stupid for using jigs at night , we used black and chart tubes ,under a black light on lake Fork when it first opened up , 300 to 400 crappie without moving the boat wasn't unusual .
the old timers and crappie chasers of that time period said it couldn't be done.....
oh the things that are so untrue when it comes to ketchn crappie ....
nice read and congrats to ya ...

Me & a buddy are thinking about giving it a try anchored & putting a green light out next weekend possibly.
