    Default spinning reel?

What's a cheap but decent spinning reel to pair with one of the 10' west point jig rods that you get at walmart? This will pretty much be a back up & a cheap spare to have in the boat incase somebody goes with me & needs to use it. Thanks

    I'd go with a Shimano IX 1000 (trigger/rear drag/8.4oz) @ <$15 ..... or if you want/need something lighter - Shimano FX FB 1000 (front drag/6.9oz) @ <$20
Both hold 110yds 6# test mono.

I just purchased a new Shimano Sahara and really like it after a few trips out using it.

I have about a dozen of the Shimano IX reels. My local sports store was selling them for $10 each. I bought a bunch for my spider poles. Great little reels. Never had a problem with Crappie, or other species that I hook while spider rigging.
