My guess is that certain colors don't catch fish as well as others and in that sense colors may matter. But without the scientific method, who's to say for sure they don't work? I rarely use black, blue or grape for any soft plastic. Without trying them time and again in different lures used on different waters, I can't say they won't work. But that's no different than those that insist certain colors do work because fish were caught on certain colors given certain scenarios.

And this is also where Livescope comes into play. When you watch how the fish react, how they dont react or how they leave you in a dash, you know the difference in colors

I agree. I worded it similar in my post. I can actually see the reactions. I KNOW color matters. But everyone is entitled to an opinion.

For myself I don’t believe it really makes a difference as long as common sense is applied. I have fished with dozens of anglers who swop colors every 5 min while I stick to ole faithful. Doesn’t appear to me there is a daily magic color. I also don’t see tournament bass fisherman changing color worms every 10 minutes. Now I don’t have any proof that crappies color spectrum is far superior than that of green fish. But I am a believer in rockin what u have confidence in until the wheels fall off. Right, wrong, or indifferent that’s just how I roll…..
Seems everyone these days are selling dreams, I'm just to cheap to buy one!

all I know factually is this , some days the guy using a certain color presented in the exact same fashion will totally wear down the other guys using the exact same presentation with a different color .
have seen it on many more than one occasion in several different lakes and ponds and rivers. when you are down around 10 fish to your one, fishing with a much less skilled angler than yourself or the others near him or her ,THEN you will understand how much a certain color or color combination makes a difference .

Ya sure that "much less skilled angler" isn't a boy wonder?!

I think the biggest diff in the debate is : Spoonie is chasing/catching "fish" (ie- multiple species), while the majority of the rest of us are chasing/catching one particular specie ..... Crappie.

That's one thing I'll never understand - how anyone thinks they can target one species using certain lures. As you've seen from my many photos posted over many years, it's impossible to keep any fish from biting small plastic lures. Besides, who would want to restrict the catch to just crappie especially if strikes are far & in between.

Lure shapes and actions target fish senses regardless which fish happen to be around.

"I" target specific species with specific lures, and while I do catch other species with those specific lures, I consider them a bycatch & or nuisance specie .... most of which are promptly returned to the water.

Wishing or hoping that a species bites vs targeting it are two different things. I target bass with spinnerbaits and skirted jigs knowing for a fact no panfish species wil bite them which in effect excludes panfish. There is no such thing as a crappie-specific lure unless you know of one that I don't.

Now, if you were fishing for crappy mostly in areas you found that held them in numbers, that would be more in line with targeting, though any species in the area will likely strike the same lures.
