the first green lights we used way back before anyone knew they existed did just great and possibly even better than the white light , but along came the led thing and the various varieties of other artificial light and in some spots I don't even see one baitfish under the green lights , just saying
p.s. they do look really cool though

I have lights I’ve never used, I’m no help but ,I thought the main thing the lights do is draw plankton, which is what the shad and other small minnows eat , which in turn attract crappie and other fish to eat the little fishes .
And the advantage of a submerged led light should be less bugs.
Maybe an experienced expert will post some tips

Floating headlights will draw bugs, as will depthfinder lights and any other light source above or close to the surface. Get close to the brush or trees along the bank or out on the water & there'll be bugs around you, even without any lights. Heck, my blacklights draw bugs.

Haven't used submersible lights in a long time, but don't remember them drawing bugs to any degree. But the lights used to light up the rods did, so there's really no way to determine if the submersible lights had much added effect.

Pappy I was thinking about how my black lights will th green leds draw bugs & never really thought about the fact that the lights I’m talking about would be submerged. I guess I should have put a little more thought into it. Lol

The submersible led green lights do in fact work! They will attract the plankton and in turn the shad minnows. I’ve seen them so thick you could net them by the bucket full if you had a small mesh net. I’ve never had issues with mosquitoes but we mainly fish either standing timber or under bridges and not next to the bank. Here’s a couple pics from some night trips and all fish were caught while using the greed led submersible light.
