I would say this about that , like stated some have the "touch" some don't .
Being able to "see" down there without sonar is an art for sure .
I often get asked what someone is doing wrong when they don't ketch fish.
The one thing that seems to be a constant in the ever changing world of below the surface is that just so certain mix of things that induce a bite and the detection of said bite as well .
In the case stated above ,without being in the boat and watching the 2 anglers it would be difficult to diagnose and medicate from over here in my chair .
so here we go ....
1... use gulp brand crappie nibbles , glo white seem most productive ,with the chart ones in second place .
2 ....do like all the winners in all the tournaments that hardly ever mention tipping the jigs with live minnows .
3 .... hold as still as possible "most" of the time and when you move , move it VERY SLOWLY .
4 .... watch him like a hawk for a bit and do your best to imitate him .
5 .... pay close attention when you do ketch one to what you did and make sure you repeat it .
6 .... line watching and feeling can often be the ticket when the "thump" is not on .
7 .... set the hook on ANYTHING that feels different or looks different .
8 .... get a less experienced ketchn partner .....
