    Default Skunked

Was my good bud yesterday , said he hit the lake from shallow to deep and ran all over it looking for even just one bite and never got a peck from anything .
told him with water temps. from 53 to 57 there should be a bite in there .
He hits that lake 5 to 6 days a week ,he is retired and lives 5 minutes from it .
he pretty much NEVER gets skunked , but there is always a day right ....
I had sent him a slab picture from a lunch time lake visit in town and messed with him a bit before he told me his tale of they were not biting .....
the text conversation of why they didn't bite for him was pretty funny and in the end it was what it was and is what it is this time of year .

skunked is sometimes a frame of mind , my wife and I had that conversation the other night .....
told her when they don't want to bite , it is me to get really all serious and patient and try to ketch at least ONE !

The skunk is a cruel mistress indeed! Sometimes we all need the reminder that we are not in control of everything, all the time.

The skunk lives in my boat. Only occasionally do I evict him.

the good news for me is I am a bit better with accepting defeat if I know it is inevitable, somedays it just ain't meant to be I suppose .
there was a day I would continue the chase them for hours on end before it became evident it wasn't going to end well .
fast forward to my quick pit stops, if they are there and friendly , good news , if not I likely had something else to do anyway .....
