Default Injury ALERT ! and it HURT !

Silly me knows better , but I sometimes can't stop myself .
Had a nice coming along bite before the front hit , big fish in the mix.
Was passing there yesterday after this hard front came thru and thought , best check to make darn sure they ain't still biting over there ....
    1st mistake
Grabbed a SUPER stout set up from the back seat , really stiff 6 footer with really heavy braid on it and a BIG ole 1/8 ballhead tied to it .
    2nd mistake
hit one spot and nada and I mean NADA , went to the second spot in real short water and was facing the brutal north wind in hopes of ketchn at least one .
    3rd mistake
So as hard as it is to imagine , there I stood like a ice cream bar in the howling wind and put 4 foot of line off the rod tip and set it RIGHT exactly where I ketched a lake record last year on the exact same day of the year !
    4th mistake
Well as you might guess a few seconds passed and K A B O O M and man was it on just like that , thought it was super slab and man handled it like a big boy and it was strong and we were face to face in a mere blink ! Not a crappie darnit
So silly me said no worries , you just think you is a bad fish , looking all mean and losing your mind and I got a sling thing for you , watch this my ugly REALLY green and not so tired bass friend and gave it the sling.
    5th mistake
As hard as this might be to imagine the fish went into the air and I swung it away from the water and as it started to drop back to mother earth , I reached out with my left hand to grab it .
    6th mistake
Right as my hand got above its face the hook actually broke at the lead and the rod was in a full arc and the jig body and hook went one way ,the fish went straight down AND .....
the lead came back faster than the speed of sound ,,,,maybe close to a light year it seemed at the time and hit my hand right above my wedding ring just below my knuckle !
OUCH and another 4 letter word or 2 as the bass looked at me like so there mister losing its mind like a fresh out of the water rainbow .
I really thought I just buried the hook in my hand it happened so fast I didn't have a clue and it HURT like you want your momma hurt , NOT kidding ....
Bass went back in after a selfie , Ketchn went back to the truck and watched the SWELLING begin ......
To add insult to my injury there was an audience and they were in that there , what fool would be out here in these types of conditions trying to ketcha fish ?

Wow, I've never seen one break there before. I bet that did hurt like crazy. Could have been worse though and buried the hook deep in your hand. Maybe you can take some rest time to heal up.... of course down by the water somewhere...

Sorry that you got injured and I hope it heals soon. This was one of your best tall tale stories since I have been reading your posts.. I was spell bound reading mistake after mistake on the Lake and waiting for your Take on how you'd make that fish pay for your injury or make you eat cake.

That's a nice pop knot there. Surely couldn't have felt good on cold hands

I’m with Ship! Another action packed tale from “The Adventures of Ketchn”! That was a nasty wound. Sometimes “sling and fling” isn’t the way to go….

I hate it when I hurt myself while fishing.
I’m out there to relax, but for some reason most of the time I’m wore out by the time I get back to the truck.
