Default New Livescope out in 5-8 weeks

Just saw on the Garmin site that the new Livescope system will be hitting the shelves in 5-8 weeks. Black box is the same so unit with updated transducer will be $1699 and just the transducer by itself will be $1199. I wonder just how much better will it be.

I had hope they would be all new units so I could buy a used unit off someone who is upgrading. That plan is in the crapper now.

I'm thinking the best they can do is get rid of a lot of the screen "mess" that comes with higher settings. (ie ... more like the Active Target) But, if all they're doing is "updating" the transducer and not the programming, then what did they do to it ??

I don't know but $1200 for a transducer is too rich for my blood. Can't buy the old transducer from anyone who is upgrading because you still need the black box.

I think you are going to see a lot of people just go ahead and buy the whole new setup for $1700 and have a full fresh warranty. There should be some reasonable used systems for sale soon. There will be plenty that try and sell the old transducer by itself, but like you mentioned, will not be much market for it. Might be a good chance for some of us that are cheap to pick up a back up though.

I’m not sure but since they dialed back the existing livescope should be easier to sell the new as improved…lol.
