You need to change to a different company on the reel.
Question for you guys.
Lady that got me into crappie fishing her and her husband already had things set up on the boat rods, reels everything.
Covid was not good to them he passed I met her we are friends now fishing buddies.
They had Mr Crappie mini baitcasting reels on the rods.
My question is how am I braking so many. LOL
Ended up ordering 6 so I could replace three of hers but is there a secret to not braking them?
Can't remember ever braking a reel but nailed three so far.
What is happening it won't lock the reel it will just free spool all the time. Granted we catch a lot of stripers while crappie fishing some 3 pound but i'm getting them to the boat fine. I'm lost.
You guys been around there things since fishing was invented so have any of you had this happen to you with these reels.
Thanks.

Did we just called old....bangshead....biggrin....
Silly question but are you familiar with the three position lever and the tension adjuster on the side?
Ive had several for years the only problem I have is the crank keeps getting loose.

Yes, I know there three slots on the side. Spool lock and drag. What I did to two of them had them on lock got a jig off a underwater log pulled a little hard figured the line would brake before anything else. Got the jig off both times then it would not lock. Love the size just shaking my head right now.

Those reels are only good for holding line. Nothing else.
I’ve always had trouble with the tiny bait caster and spinning reels.
I use these most of the time.
Unless I’m fishing deep water in winter.
