    Default USPS Shipping Damage

Has anyone other than me had issues with USPS delivering broken panfish rods? I have had 3 different deliveries with broken shipping tubes and the rod inside was broken each time. I’m trying to get my hands on a Jenko HyperSense 7’ light fast. These rods are only manufactured in 1 piece. Rod is not available locally, is UPS any better?

What kind of tube are they shipping in?

A really solid tube can survive almost anything, especially with good packing.

That depends on the shipper. I received some tips in a usps box that was triangle shaped and not sturdy at all. Had all kinds of dents and bends in it. Luckily nothing was broken but had it been a full length rod I feel it would have been broken. I have also seen rood tubes mashed and bent. One of the problems today is something gets shipped usps then it is transferred to UPS or FedEx for the shipping then it goes to local post office and gets delivered by USPS. So damage most likely occurs by the actual carrier not USPS. No fool proof way to insure one is going to get delivered intact that I know of. You just have to order and hope for the best.

I've had a couple rods delivered that looked like they would have been broke but the rods were fine. Boxes/tubes looked bad though.

The Corley custom rod Brent sent me in PVC tube and was a perfect way to ship a rod.

I occasionally sell rods on EBay and always ship in a PVC tube. Unfortunately, most businesses will not do that.

    Yep. They’re practically bomb-proof.

But they’re heavier than cardboard, so they’re more expensive to ship.
