It was 29 this morning with 26 predicted tomorrow. Highs in the lower 40's with a 15-20 mph breeze for the next couple of days.
I pretty much don't fish unless it's 50 or higher. But that pretty often, even in the winter here.

Every winter I empty and clean the boat from top to bottom. Then respool all my poles. Replace worn, missing tackle. Make boat, tackle modifications. Plan campouts, tournaments, make reservations, etc. A couple weeks before the ice breaks I load the boat. Ice out, I'm on the water in winter clothes taking deep breaths and enjoying the clean fresh air again.

This year i also had a hip replaced. Now recovering. Plenty of time to pull out the lake maps and study them, reliving previous trips and where I caught and didn't catch fish. I also spend time watching yooutube videos about crappie fishing.

Can't forget my Crappie.com calendars. I get two every year. One for the house and one for work. I mark them up with my planned fishing trips and tournaments. Sure glad Slab knows how to feed the addiction!!!

    Thanks SLAB!!!

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!

Cool read i think winter we all read , dream and think about fishing other than those who who are die hard up north ice fishing to florida in shorts and t shirts . we went fishing Christmas and caught a cold i really think it was that cold but even tough we only had a few bites yeah wife said we needed worms we had a blast . previous years i fished all year long i kinda fell off the wagon and like everything if not persistent you get lazy. i drag my tackle boxes out and move stuff around and mess with my fishing rods and reels when to cold or lazy to go out.

Finally met someone who can type a letter the size I do.
Over here by the Outer Banks I'm iced in this morning nothing moving. White out outside but its stopped snowing about 5 am. . . We have no snow and ice eqt to clear roads so we shut down a few days let the country boys open things up with the big 4x4s and big rigs then we venture out. Coastal Carolina living is like living back in the 60s and 70s. Only thing that messes things up is listening to this tangled mess we live in on the Tv.

Being new just getting into crappie fishing have rods in the living room rigging them now kept e bay hot the last three weeks after getting on here as a new member and reading everything you guys write. Playing with someone elses live scope proved to be a costly adventure but I do my own rigging on everything so kept the cost down a little.

Traveled all my life with work out on shoulder surgery will retire soon as DR releases me might work part time if they are really really nice. Depend if the fish are biting GF has a few years she works from home great job she loves fishing so we both are fired up even looking to trade up in boats because of crappie fishing as soon as next week if the guy can find his titles. LOL Some things guys we do need to let the women handle. LOL

Have not watched fishing shows (youtube) like I'm doing in years trying to learn everything I can catching up so enjoying my time planning both excited and not next week with temps in the mid 20s but long as that top number is over 45 looking up to 50 I'm cool with going out and trying them. Playing with the Active Target I bought its like a video game and a challenge getting them to chase it so its wide open fun for me even in winter. She's find just being out there and fishing with me doing it all my life she will learn quick.

Mama is use to cold will be 2 where she is in Laurelville Ohio tonight actually moving my way next week. Yes she picks at me about the cold but she don't know how to drive and back a boat so its all in fun and I hold all the aces. LOL

Boating and fishing all my life from serious offshore fisherman to 3 stick steer boats have one now lot of in between.
I still get that feeling of excitement I did growing up and coming up here with a group of men bream fishing in the spring but cold is cold and I'm 65 not 25 so second best thing to fishing is getting ready to go fishing right now
Coastal Carolina enjoying the peaceful easy way of life.

I think you are near the DFW area?
I'm south of you a bit in the pineywoods. Dallas definitely gets more cold weather than we do.

I think it’s supposed to be 19 degrees here in the morning and if I can get to the lake safely I’m going. Should get up in the 40’s so hopefully melts everything away.
