Ran into him at the Pelican ages ago. He was a class act and got to live a long life doing things he loved. When he spoke, you could hear kindness, class and Kentucky in every word!
Joe B was a National Championship basketball coach at University of KY. He owned a home on Jonathan Creek, near Sportsman’s Marina, on Ky Lake. For years he was a fixture in our area while crappie and Redear fishing.
One afternoon he was eating with friends at Majestic Steak House in Draffenville while Vicki and I sat nearby. Almost everybody in there knew him and respected his privacy. The conversation at his table wasn’t UK basketball, it was fishing. As we started to leave, one of Joe’s group told him I was a pretty good Redear fisherman. I stopped to talk to him and spent way too much of his time talking Redear and crappie fishing. He was just one of the guys who loved the lakes and his time on the water.
RIP Coach.

R.I.P. Coach.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
RIP Coach.
