Default Sub-$50 reel for crappie and panfish

I am looking to get a new reel for crappie and don't really have more then $50 to spend. The last few I got are the pflueger trion and they have been good, my last trion got run over and I liked the older ones when they had the wood Knob.

Think there over $40 now tho and seeing if you all have anything better for the price.

I see the new Penn pursuit 4 and the 2500 maybe nice, I have the new battle 4000 and really like it. Tho the 2500 pursuit maybe a bit big for crappie.

I am thinking of trying braid for crappie, I've used braid for everything else but a ul or light may be nice with braid. Plus be fun when the shad run up here.

    So what you like using.

For a rod I'll probably grab a Shakespeare micro series I really like them and been using them forever.

I've never seen in to try, for some reason we don't get bnm stuff around here other then a cane pole every once in awhile. I'll take a look tho.

I have the 2000 model, but 1000 would work, too.

Depends on the line you’re using and what you’re fishing for.

As a general rule, I’d rather go with a bigger spool as long as there’s not a huge difference in weight.

For crappie and pans the 1000 should get the job done.

I am sure everyone appreciates all the good advice, I know I do, but every time I see this stuff it cost me money! Not complaining but the wife is starting to ask questions!
