I've had 4 Shimano ix on 10' SC rods about 6 years.
Still smooth and holding up with our Pflueger President. Used mainly long lining, but we love them.

I bought a couple of Presidents years ago, even though they are smoother I couldn't live without the trigger and went back to the Shimano lX . I got tired of constantly have to take my hand off the handle to flip the bale wire. I have been using this kind reel for 30 years, so it was hard for me to change.

Just serviced an old Garcia Mitchell 308. Cast like a dream. As good or better than the many brands of modern crappie reels I have.

If you like Lew's try a Laser Lite. They come in 50, 75, and 100 sizes. I've had good luck with them. They are usually under $45 bucks and really smooth. I also own some Piscifuns, but they are baitcasters. I really like them and have planned on trying their spinning reels.

How are the pflueger monarchs, think they were $45 at Wal-Mart but didn't seem any better then the trions, it was in the clam shell so couldn't try it. The small trion used to be $30 but don't see any at Wal-Mart, I'll have to go see what dicks has some day. There's really only one other place close to buy reels,a small outfitter shop he has daiwa and shimano mostly. Wal-Mart has some 10# power pro but just seems heavy for a ul rod, I'd prefer the 8# or the lighter lines. Seems you guys like the nanofil line.
