Default Evinrude going out of business!!!

I just read Evinrude was going out of business on Google. I sure hope something will happen so they want have too. It doesn't mention anything about Johnson boat motors as I thought one had bought out the other years ago. I sure hope this is false news as I have both Evinrude and Johnson boat motors.

YEP. The SEA DOO people bought Evinrude and shut the doors after screwing up the E TEC design. They also shut the doors of Alumacraft in Arkansas about the same time.

It was just the one plant they shut down, I don't think the whole brand is done for. That would be a shame.

I guess it makes sense. They took a 2 stroke and saddled it with enough electronic and emissions equipment so it's just as heavy, more expensive, and no more fuel efficient than a 4 stroke. Not really much point in making them anymore IMO.
