Evinrude going out of business!!!

made me sad to hear it , grew up depending on them motors to tow in the less fortunate boat motor owners . one little 25 hp we had pulled more boats to shore than most boat dealers have in stock these days .

I have a 2015 90 etec with the 10 year warranty program. I drove 50 miles round trip to the closest Evinrude dealer Monday to buy Evinrude's special gear lube to change mine in the lower unit. The dealer's counter jockey began telling me after 300 hours I had to have records of a authorized dealer doing the maintenance or my warranty is void. The dealer I bought my engine from is 2 hours away, friends who is going to get my business but are now out of the engine business. All they sell are "Package" boats now. My next new engine will be a Mercury since even Evinrude is now buying from them. It may take a while for me to need a "New" on since I have been buying up 60 degree - carburetor engines in 90HP - 200HP for 10 years. I have quite a collection of engines & parts to run through. They may burn more gas but run, run, run without a dealers help.
