    This post is for all the rookies like me trying to make crappie hotels.

    Tried to place these pallets yesterday. 1 CMU block per pallet is NOT enough weight for them to sink. It was a disaster. Haha.

    I’m guessing I needed at least 2 block per pallet.

    We will see how it works. My pvc brush hasn’t produced many fish, my real tree brush piles tend to cause lots of hang ups. I’m hoping my small jigs won’t snag as easy on these like they will on a tree branch.

    I’ve heard of people mixing hard wood in with PVC structure. The wood helps attract fish faster and more until established and the PVC has the longevity. There are some other threads with examples here. Also really rough up the PVC first to help algae attach and grow faster.

    A lot of the docks I fish have Christmas tree under them. Stacked full. Those things will grab a jig quick
