Default Pflueger President has a tick

My buddies Pflueger President has a click or tick when reeling slowly. If you go faster it's smooth as silk. Anyone know what could be the problem and how to fix? Thanks

First step I would do is pull it apart, clean, and lube it. Could be as simple as something in the gears

If it has an anti reverse lever kick it to off and reel both ways a few times and see if that does anything.

I know he opened and looked but I don't know if he cleaned and lubed it. It should be fairly good shape since he got it back not terribly long ago from Pflueger. He had another one that was a lemon and they finally sent him a new one. Its this one that has the tick now.

You’d think that a guy making a dollar a day in a Chinese factory would take more pride in his work.

Ok he said he has tracked it down. It’s coming from the bail somehow. He is working on finding a solution now.

Bail not closing all the way and hitting the release as it goes by?
