Understandable. They are some wire chewing monsters
I made the trip down to Louisiana to have Thanksgiving with my son and his family. Monday I decided to pull my boat out of his shed and get it ready for a trip to D'arbonne on Tuesday. I leave a boat with him so I don't have to pull one back and forth. When I was taking off the cover I found one of the transducer wires had been chewed in half by either a mouse or rat. There was a "nest" of pine needles in the boat and when I cleaned it out it was full of old nails and screws. When I took off the cover that concealed the wires for the rear nav lights, livewell and bilge I found them chewed too. And the wire for the 2nd finder. I spent all afternoon stripping and soldering wires, 23 solder joints in all. Today I install the batteries and see if I fixed everything. Not sure if transducer wires can be spliced but I had nothing to loose.
I hate rodents!!!!

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Mercy, a nuisance and pain in the rear for sure! They sure can cause a lot of damage and troubles.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. They sure are destructive critters.
Bob
They really like the wires on Toyota's and Honda vehicles. Sorry about your troubles
Having been bit ALL the way thru my thumb as a little kid by a large rat , I HATE them more than you can imagine.
I still wear a real nice y shaped scar on my thumb joint , and to this day they still make me want to exterminate them .
One thing comes to mind though , your issue might be tree rats , they often get in boats and chew chew chew ,as well .....just saying .

This is enough poison to kill every rat in the state of Louisiana. Just break a piece off and put it somewhere where it's almost impossible for them to get to. They'll want it even more.

did mention I hate rats , my grandpa said he used to control them with a rather neat approach .
he swore if you can ketch one and set it on fire and put it out once it's hair is all gone
and let it go back to the "pack" they will leave the area fast .
never tried it , but if you do , let me know , i always wondered .....
