Richard Gene put out a videos a couple of months back fishing at night. He was using a gold stinger type jig.
I have personally used monkey milk, electric chicken and blue ice at night with great resultsa jig under a float works well at night for me. Slow roll or a stop and go retrieve. The advantage of minnows is multiple poles fishing at the same time. I can only use one jig at a time.

If they are shallow it works very well. Float and fly. I fish it at night around lights. I set up a light and fish 2 rods with minnows and 1 with a jog under a float. The fish will tell you which presentation they prefer
