Yeah, when I was early 20s, my friend had a bass boat called the Gambler. I don't remember the hp on it, but I stupidly sat on the front butt seat while he went down the lake at almost 70!! Yes, I yelled to slow down!!! Young and stupid often go together.

Rode with a fella that had one of the pickle fork Mirage boats. Sat in line line a fighter jet in the thing. It was way too fast

I saw 86 in one of those with a trick 200 once, I hollered a lot too. Saw 88 in a Sterling Dominator one Thanksgiving day a lot of years ago. Both were on gps. Things happen real fast at those speeds on the water. I like my Jon boat now just fine.

I’d still like to take the aluminum with the 90 for a spin on a day with about 6” of chop. Fast water.

Yeah, I've ridden in boats doing 65-70mph, back in the day. My current boat will do 50mph (GPS) -- 1999 model 16ft ProCraft w/90Merc --- but, I normally run around 40mph (cruising speed) when moving to a distant spot on the lake.

My boats have gone "airborne" a few times after hitting a wave I misjudged (in this boat and my previous 15ft w70hp rig), so I'm a bit hesitant to run WOT when there's a lot of boat traffic at the time.

Never did mind the launch into the air, boy that landing on the other side can stiffen your back up for a few days

My buddies Allison will run around 102-104. Merc 2.5 racing motor with some tweaks from mercury.
Not with me in it for sure!!!!!
Sounds like a formula 1 race car.
Pretty cool but not for me!

I’ve seen a few of the center console Allison’s with the 2.5’s you speak of. I also agree, not with me in it. The Allison was built to be a fast boat before they put the bass boat top on it, so I’d be a little more confident in those. The ones that are just big bass boats with even bigger motors are just plain scary. I saw a Bullet center console bass boat on Craigslist when I lived in Tn that really had my attention. Had a balanced Mazco prop on it that I know did t come cheap. Very interesting boat.

I went over a submerged log float down the river as a passenger on a walk thru windshield tri hull doing about 25 mph. That was a wet cold ride back with the prop mangled up. Running 60 plus would have been a lot different outcome

Their seems to be the notion speed is cool. Well speed can make you cool permanently too...At speed With out proper eye protection, I.E. Goggles, you can't see properly. Just ask those two Alabama bass tournament Fisherman from a couple years back...Oh yea, you can't. Was running from one spot to another, you know real fast and their necks found a severely drooping electric line over the water. Didn't see the end of the day. All I'm saying folks, is Have fun, be safe while enjoying our great sport. I like reading ya'alls stories, and looking at ya'alls posts to much to...
