All the suggestions here are very good. As an eyeglass wearing old fellow (I can't see without them) guy, the magnifier idea is something I am going to look (no pun intended) into. I am always fumbling with tying knots, and putting line through the eyelets on my rods.

I have worn prescription bifocals with transistion lenses for 32 years...go out in the sun and they turn dark for sunglasses.....go inside and they turn back clear. Keep a extra pair in my truck in case my glasses were to get broken or fall in the lake or something. I really like them.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I have about 6-8 pairs of Dollar Store readers lying around the place, some in vehicle, and some in my tackle bags. I used to wear a pair on a neck lanyard when I was still working, but quit using those after retirement because I don't wear the readers to drive, watch TV, fish, or much of anything other than when on the computer (& occasionally when viewing texts on my phone).

If you already have readers & just forget to take them ... the lanyards are the cheapest way to go.

I carry a spare pair in my boat and swap them for my tackle box when I go to the bank.

I made a trip this summer without the drain plug. Adds to the excitement of the trip

I have something similar but my wife is much longer and the handle is aluminum. I used it to pull parachute cord through itself for repairs or parachute builds when I was a skydiver and FAA Parachute Rigger. I will have to see if I can find it. It was homemade but did the trick.
