Where I have fished on smaller lakes in MN, I found that there is no such thing as two boats fishing closely together. Once a second boat approaches someone catching fish, it never fails that more boats want to horn in. It's either one boat fishing alone or multiple boats parking nearby. This summer on vacation in MN I was fishing a very small hump that rose sharply from 25' to 6' on top and I was catching a limit of crappies off the side of the hump at 15'. And once again the two boat syndrome led to a third boat arriving. Unfortunately the idiots drove over and parked on top of the hump about half a cast distance away. They made a lot of noise, caught nothing and spooked the fish. Whatever happened to common courtesy and sportsmanship?

Everyone gets a trophy now. You were catching fish from that spot so they should be able to catch them there also. Lots of new and first time sportsmen out there now. Back in the day the old timers would not have crowded one another

It's just not newcomers to fishing. On my lake I see people who have been chasing crappie for years do the same thing.

It's even worse when you are fishing your slips. They see you catch one they will come onto your deck and start talking to you while they drop their line next to your line. I now have locked gates on my slips but they just climb over them to fish when I'm not there.

It's getting harder and harder to be ezgoing.

I would have been tempted to stop fishing and fire up the engine and start doing tight little circles around his boat. Over and over, round and round we go. Provide him with a teachable moment. Do it for all the other guys that fish that lake. Not so much punishment, but rather just gentle guidance that not everyone is normal.

My luck that would get me turned in for harassing a fisherman.

Joe Poole lake reminds me of Weatherford lake , both have herds of folks that won't hesitate to stand on your shoulders if you sling a fish, not sure why so similar and so far apart ,but I have heard stories of other docks that are the same general idea in this part of the world as well , seen it occur at lake Graham and at lake Leon and a few times on lake Proctor too.
Funny thing is I just noticed a trend .....

If I can cast to their boat they're too close UNLESS they're polite about it and ask if they can come closer after all the water is public space. Who knows, you might meet someone that turns out to be your next best friend.

These days Micanopy you have to be extra careful. There are so many crazies out there that while you’re creating exhaust smoke some else is generating gun smoke. It’s really nuts today.
