Agree about minnows. My buddy shuns minnows and normally out fishes me with jigs (heck—he out fishes me if he used a cane pole and a bent pin) but this week my miners have been welcomed by the great fish they are.

For some reason, Joe Pool is more productive with minnows than jigs right now. Even on my slips, crappie are hard to catch with jigs but easy with minnows. So far I have kept to jigs but if I keep seeing other boats pulling in numbers of crappie while I am only catching occasional crappie that may change.

I made the mistake last week of taking an acquaintance to a spot that had turned into a good producer for me. Mostly small but a lot of them with a few nice ones thrown in. Haven't been able to fish the spot since. Every time I show up there he is sitting there with a friend of his fishing the spot. Needless to say, if I ever take him on my boat again it will be to all the non-productive spots.

Perhaps blindfolds would be a good addition to ones tackle box
