    Default Reel Repair Kudos

Just wanted to do a shout out for Dave’s Reel Repair service in Vernon Hills, Il. I have an older Shimano Cl4 1000FML that was getting a little long in the tooth. It’s been on many a trip and had developed a lot of play in the handle and spindle. I contacted Dave and was informed that he thought it might just be “worn out” and parts were no longer available (I had already checked with Shimano). He said to send it in, and if he could do repair it he would, otherwise he would ship it back. He called a few days later, said he could shim the problem areas, lube it up, and I’d be good to go for a while longer. The reel came back in less than 2 weeks, when I was quoted 4-6. Took it out yesterday and it’s perfect, couldn’t have expected more. It’s nice, in this day and age, when your expectations are exceeded and you deal with great customer service.

Doing a lot better than I am with the Ambassadeur I dropped off in May and haven’t heard from them yet. Glad you got your favorite back up and running.

To clarify, I dropped my reel off local to me and not with the shop that Hatchetjack spoke of. If I had it now, I’d send it to his guy. When the saga is over, I’ll bring everyone up to speed.
