    Default We're going Fishing !

My grandson turned 2 and a half plus one week this weekend, and He came to spend the weekend with us .
So we woke up yesterday and someone asked if he wanted to go fishing today . He answered her a simple " yes " with a nod as he played with a toy truck before breakfast .
So a bit later when Pappy was getting breakfast ready and some of the less than adults were eating , a conversation began from the dining room table over to the kitchen between he and I .
I said "hey buddy, let's eat up, we have to get going" .
He didn't respond and I tried to continue the one sided conversation .
I said "so where are we going first ,today"?
He never looked over in my direction at all ....and said with a tone that sealed the deal ...
you know that tone in the voice that is quite matter of fact ....
    "We're going fishing " !
Well let me say this much , I have heard a few things before that melted my heart , but to be sure this one simple 3 word answer ,bought brought tears to my eyes .
Off we went , sort of shortly there after and to be sure since fishing ain't my thing , we went ketchn instead . Now was it complicated you might ask , I would say way past that for sure .
There was the part where he HAD to use the biggest rod ,and the part where she "my daughter" wouldn't use the Barbie combo and mom and I shared the pink Barbie combo .Mini Kaboom did actually use the Barbie rig a bit in the end a little bit .
And the stop for a PFD for him as the water off the dock is deep for sure and we had a fail in the PFD department on the kiddo transfer the day before .
We of course did not stay at the water very long , the orange life jacket was not to his liking much and can't say I blame him . We also did not make it to the water until near lunchtime ,so food and a nap became high on the priority list .
I do know this much , this is his second time to go fishing and went somewhat like the first one ,with the exception of getting to touch a fish and of course we replaced the bluegill with a few small crappie ,baby steps don't ya know .....
Many thanks to my friend Buddy for inviting us out to his lake ,good times were had by all .
We rounded out the day with ice cream cones and a Pappy and him only trip to the park after dinner , pretty darn good stuff I tell ya
Couldn't quite get him to wear his crappie.com head cover for the ketch images . And couldn't stay for to many fish because the PFD wasn't a fun one , He is at that age were less clothes are best .

Wish we could like a thread more than once. That’s good stuff right there for sure. Glad you got out there with him and he likes going. Won’t take long and he will be all about “Ketchn” and not fishing. KABOOM!!!!

I wondered if anyone noticed that part , my agenda with him was at around 2.5 years old he might be able to hit the water with me . we edged the 2.5 on our bluegill trip a month or so ago ....
it was also my hopes he would even ketch him a crappie , we are running a week behind on ketchn a crappie , not terribly sure if he is quite ready to hunt with me , but we might give it a go this year , said might .....

my "family" blind sits about 3 foot off the ground and will hold a small army in comfort , mini and I hunt in it with mom a bit . the draw back is all my stuff is set up to be in the 50 yard range max. that's pretty close to be sitting near educated deer and to be sure our deer are fairly well educated , some notice you in the blind right as they step out of the woods even if you are downwind and sitting dead still ....
deer living in pasture lands with about every person in the area popping shots at them have a tendency to be a bit more wary than some of those less than pursued versions .
