I went from 8# to 6# mono and was a game changer for distance for me. And that's the cheap stuff I can only imagine what a good quality line would do.

i am down to a line to get out there, over the last 2 weeks or so i have made some changes in my shore fishing set up, i have the right pole now, and the reel and the bobber type where you fill it partially with water and i put a fly on it a get some nice panfish, the main thing is i have to get the bobber way out there from shore, so now that i have the right pole and bobber ect, i am down to line, i was using mr crappie 4lb test, it gets out there but i feel alot ot stretch. yesterday i tried a spool ofSuffix 832 in 10lb test, not bad but still a shy short over the Mr Crappie mono line. what other lines are worth a try.

I took your advice and started to build in weights with my own floats. It added quite a bit of distance over the ones with the weight below the float. All I had to do was drill out a little of the center of the egg sinker so it fit tightly to the hard plastic straw. Add a drop of Loctite to secure it to the straw and KABOOM!!! weighted slip bobbers for less than a nickel apiece!

Love it! I use mine also on #6 lb Mr. Crappie Hi Vis yellow line. Works well for me. It is amazing what attaching the egg sinker to the slip float did for my casts.

Robin, this is the drawing handout for your classroom on the weighted pool noodle slip floats. Thanks for the phone call. You can find the video I made on You Tube. The trick is to use a coat hanger to guide the hard plastic straw through the pool noodles. How to make a slip float bobber - YouTube

I will see your class soon.
