Default New Crappie Chaser Will Soon Be Ready

Everything is finally coming together. I received my bow cabinets and one of my two fishing seats. The second seat is due in this week. My new trolling motor is due in Friday.

Richard pulled out the front lounge seats last night. We will be installing the bow cabinets and the seat that is in this afternoon. We will install the second seat as soon as it comes in this week and we will be installing the trolling motor Saturday.

The only sour apple in the deal is Bass Pro screwed me on the cabinets. I told the parts manager I wanted to buy the right bow Livewell cabinet and the left bow battery cabinet. They sent me two battery cabinets and refused to correct their mistake. Said they did not accept returns of custom-ordered items, which I agreed to. But I did not think that meant they would not accept the return of an item when they delivered the wrong item.

When I talked to the Parts Manager he said it was my mistake and they would not exchange the second battery cabinet. Don't see how it was my mistake since I told him what I wanted and he looked up the part numbers. He told me I could buy the parts and drill the holes in the battery cabinet and make it into a Livewell. Said it would be a little work and not look as nice as the factory Livewell but it was doable.

I have been a constant customer of Bass Pro since 2008. I drive 50-60 miles on a regular basis to shop with them. But after this, I will never buy from them again.

Hopefully, I will have pictures of the finished product by this time next week.

They should fix that mistake. If you told them what you wanted and they messed it up then that's on them to correct. Custom order or not. Does the receipt list the correct parts? It's not like being as big as Bass Pro they couldn't resell it anyway.

A fella could always put a battery in each cabinet to ballance the weight and use the bait coolers instead. They could be moved around as needed

For around $100 I can convert one of the battery boxes to a live well. You can bet I will not be buying the parts to do it from Bass Pro.

I have a question about charging the trolling motor batteries. I am hooking 3 12 v 100AH lithium batteries in series to create the 36 volt power source for the Force tm. I bought 3 Genius brand chargers for the batteries.

Can I hook each of the chargers to a battery and charge them while they are hooked up in the series configuration? Or must I disconnect them from the series configuration each time I charge them?

With my previous 3 battery, 36 v set up I had separate chargers for each battery and charged them in the series configuration. But two of the three batteries failed in the 1st two years of use. I don't want to risk these batteries failing due to me charging them the wrong way.

I searched on the internet for this information but I get conflicting information on different sites. Some sites say to hook each charger to a different battery to charge them. They don't say a word about leaving or removing them from the series configuration. A few sites say hook positive lead of charger to positive lead of battery and nothing else. A lot of the sites say that you must remove them from the series configuration before you recharge them.

A few sites say you can leave them in the series configuration and recharge them. One site said you could leave them in the series configuration and recharge them, but every 5th charge removed them from the configuration and recharge them out of the configuration. Another said the same thing but to removed them every 10th charge. This is to bring all of them up to full charge on a regular basis.

Needless to same, it would be a pain to need to remove them every time I needed to recharge them. But it would be a bigger pain sending them back if they failed due to my using the wrong recharging method.

Lesson learned, when these chargers fail replace them with a 36 v charger.

I'm sending a complaint with all the details to Corporate Headquarters but I don't expect anything to come out of it. I've bought thousands of dollars of boats, boating gear and fishing equipment from them the last 13 years but I will never spend another penny with them.

In a way I guess this is good as I will no longer be driving a 100 mile round trip to their store to shop with them. I can spend the time fishing.

My last boat had a 24volt set up. It came with the onboard charger hooked to the batteries. 2 bank charger positive and negative hooked to each battery. I never had any issue out of the charger or the batteries. They do make knife switches for batteries that would make for easy isolation

I think I would go directly to the source and ask. Not worth messing one up as expensive as they are. I bought my lithium battery from AMPed Outdoors and they answered any questions I had I'm sure others would as well. You could also check on the manufactures website for a FAQ's page that might have your answer.

That's what I have always done.....when I get home from fishing I plug the onboard charger in....I leave it on 24/7 and don't unplug it until I go fishing again.....got 7 years out of my last battery's.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

On a quick search I found these two types available. They make other switches for batteries as well.
I would consult the manufacturer of the charger to see what they recommend. My opinion is that it would not cause an issue charging while in the circuit. Their opinion is the one that matters
