I had different reactions at different places but overall very little interest in anything I used. I changed probably 6 times and showed them everything that normally works. I probably should have dug deep in my tackle box for some off the wall stuff. I figured small was the ticket but I did throw a larger gray/orange split tail. Caught one on small white Limits Tackle split tail. One on the small black and blue stinger one. One on chartreuse stinger. I even tried the gray tadpole which normally smokes them and nothing. Nibbles/Slab Sauce helped and even had some pecks but never had that good thump. Some days are like that, others are opposite. I'm a weekend warrior and just do best I can and call it a day. As long as I'm not skunked I consider it a win. Been a long long time since I smelled a skunk. Just makes me think about it all week and motivate me for next weekend.
Hmm, I didn't try any of my pretty hand ties.... I'm sure that's what they wanted

Fairly slow and they were hitting very light yesterday afternoon. About 50% smalls but my grandson caught his personal best.

they have been large and in charge and in numbers and all I can tell you is thank goodness for sensitive tackle and small jigs !
lake 4 fish were more aggressive and on their northern journey to go up the river .
we will not likely drop a jig in lake 5 today , we are supposed to go tubing in Ed's new tube puller .....
Has anybody ever known Ketchn to be on a lake and not drop a jig into the water? Yesterday was no exception, once the tubing ended the dropping and ketchning started.

Our bite has improved in the past 2 weeks. Hurricane Ida left enough water to raise the lower Mississippi River complex several feet and that added some much needed fresh water to several of the lakes we fish. With the water falling as much as 2 feet a day, the fish responded and are hitting practically any jig in front of them. Most fish are in the 6-10 foot range which seemed to vary with the amount of sun hitting the water. I'd give the present bite an 8 of 10

front ran thru hard yesterday and the fish count was 32 in an hour at lunch time , about half were good fish .
bite varied from slack lines to hammer hits , all over the map and no fish in the deeper end of the dock .
liked it slightly rising and or dragging it in a upward angle , no scope to see what was going on down there .
just feeling my way around all blind as a bat .....

The surprise of that THUMP from a blindly fished jig is about as good as it gets...... On the other hand seeing that crappie and getting your jig within its site and seeing it slowly work its way to your jig and inhale it is purdy amazing also.....
Moral of my story here is all crappie fishing is amazing even if you use minnas.....
