How deep are you trying to fish
I have been pulling jigs set up with 1/16 high and 1/8 low. I add an 1/8 egg sinker a foot above the high jig. Do you guys use additional weight?

How deep are you trying to fish
Anywhere from 12-18 ft. Adjusting speed moves it up or down in the water column. Usually going 1.2-1.5 mph.

I Push jigs @ 1mph with 1oz trolling weight ahead of my jig. I guesstimate the depth they're running at 3ft down for every 5ft of line below the surface.
So for your depth range of 12-18ft ... I'd have 20ft of line below the surface for 12ft & 30ft of line below the surface for 18ft of depth of my jig.
With your total weight per rig and the speed you're pulling them .... you'd either have to let out a LOT more line than I do, or add more weight to achieve those depths at that speed. IMHO (just a reference, as you did not say how much line you had out and how much of it was below the surface --- line angle or rod angle)

I make a long cast. Maybe 100-125 ft. I would guess around 12-15 ft above water.
The reason I asked the questions is I've heard some people say they prefer to add weight and use lighter jig heads. Others say they prefer to stay away from extra hardware on the line and just increase the sizes of the jig heads.
Longlinning is my absolute favorite way to fish on my home lake deep with very little cover in it fish follow bait schools so they are constantly moving which the name of the game here is cover water. My favorite jig is 1/8 oz simply because it works best here most days fish usually around 12 feet deep in winter an spring long cast with 4 lb line an 1/8 oz jig going .8 mph will put u about 10 feet deep if fish are shallower I may speed up some or got to 1/16 oz if they are deeper I’ll go to a 1/4 oz it will run about 15 to 17 same speed on long cast. I hate more than one jig on a line at one time 2 jigs causes way to many tangles for me an I never had to troll faster that 1.1 mph to catch them if I’m gonna troll faster than that I’ll feed them crankbaits now this works on my home lake but every lake Iv ever fished u can catch fish long lining but some lakes are not as good especially if they have a lot of cover in them

sinkum-
Crankbaits are why I go faster. We are allowed 2 poles per person. I throw 2 jig poles straight out the back and my partner pulls 2 crankbait rods out the sides. We tend to pick up fish mostly around 1.5 mph.
I forgot to add we also run our rods flat with the water no rods in my boat sticking straight up in the air. Also you mentioned smaller baits we ran into this last year we was fishing 1/8 hair jigs but the wanted a smaller profile so we tied less hair in them made them look smaller an they ate it up same with plastic just use a smaller plastic

Trial and error until you discover something is probably best approach here. It was for me and I still experiment trying to figure something out. All the mathematical and geometrical figuring in the world doesn’t help me as the numbers never jive because we all do things differently. Rod up, rod down, two jigs one jig, round head minnow head, 4lb test and 8. The considerations are numerous and difficult to grasp. The nuance slight. Even how you tie your rig and sinker shape enter the equation here.
One of the best fishermen in my area adds a trolling weight ahead of a 1/16th ounce jig. I just use a heavier jig.
Good luck
Maybe they will bite this one……silverside thanked you for this post
