    Default The thump

I’ve pretty much been long lining all summer. So I started to cast here at my house from shore. Have not done good here for a while. Just a small bass every now and again. That’s what happens by my house here during the heat. So today I decide to try our new sponsors 4lb test line and I got a thump, yay. Good sign for things to come I hope.

Here’s where I’m fishing. This is off my sea wall.

And here’s the cause of the thump:

    Awesome.

And here’s the specific line I used.

I’m not a fan of 4lb test line. It makes me worry too much. I like 6lb test line to go after the thump. To me there seems to be a big difference in capability just going from 4 to 6. You can pull out of stuff and even swing fish in the boat with six. Four pound test, not so much, imho.

But this worked good. Great feel of the thump. It actually was a nice fish and I was able to direct it around the pads. Then I swung it up my sea wall, no net. I was a tad worried, but for no reason. The line worked perfectly. And I could toss that mr crappie slab daddy a mile and a half (seemingly)!

Good deal. I think imma gonna like our new sponsors products. Cool.

Their products are top notch, I have not tried that fluorocarbon but the braided lines are superb. Good catch.

That line will transmit a thump…if you want a bigger thump step down to some 2#, or spool up some of the 1.5# as I did today…LOL.

    Regards

Love the color on the slab, Slab. How's the visibility on that line, both in the water and when tying knots?

It’s light blue. Good visibility tying, but it’s four pound test. Hard to even know if your touching it!!! LoL

It was dusk so I really could not tell about visibility in the water. It’s thin like a hair so I can’t imagine it’s very visible there though. We’ll see tomorrow. I think that’s what I boxed up for you and mailed out today FYI.

I Dono. I’ll stick with 4lb test minimum. Not brave enough yet.

Thanks Slab. I think when I was going through their product line that one intrigued me as a possibility foe ice fishing. Thump another one. In the spirit of research of course!
