If I only had braided line, no mono leader and wanted a loop knot, I would put the jig on the line and just make a simple half-hitch leaving a loop. Have used them tying stuff down and have never had one come loose.

thanks for your response. This is exactly the knot I have had problems with tying my lures to my 6# braid spider line.

When I drop shot or use 2 jigs with braid I run the jig through the loop 4 times. I don't use superslick but it works with the braid that I use. I can't tell that a loop knot makes that much difference but some guys swear by it.

Simple solution. Tie a UNI knot, six turns, cinch it down, then using the tag end back it away from the jig eye leaving a nice loop, then trim tag end. Once trained it is easily repositioned after you catch a fish using your thumbnail. It will tighten and you back it off again.
Maybe they will bite this one……

I started using the Palomar knot in the late 1960's and it made it a lot easier to retie after a break night fishing. You get so you can tie it without any light. So I just kept using that as I moved to braid and don't have any issues!

Thank you very much. I've actually done this and have a lot of confidence in uni knot.

It was the knot I started using when I switched to braid. It was the first one I found that didn't alip. I am sure there are others. But this one is easy to tie as well

Since I vertical jig sometimes I like to use a loop knot since supposedly it provides better action for my lure. I use a no-slip loop knot for other line types but when I use it with 6lb braid it tends to slip and I've lost confidence in it for braid. When these failures have happened I've compensated by using a palomar knot or improved uni but i figure I'm losing action when I vertical jig. Is there a loop knot that works better with braid, or is there some other way to work around this problem? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and ideas.

I do the loop knot thing but run thru the eye twice and then twice thru the loop.
