In regards to hookset. Line stretch has a lot to do with it as you mentioned. Even the use of float changes the dynamic of hooksets. I fish brsid almost exclusively. Last time out I took some older reels and spooled them with 4lbs Viscous hi viz. Didn't want the braid damaging my vintage reels. Being used to the low stretch of the braid, the switch bad to mono and having to compensate for line stretch was a learning curve. The old saying of beware the man with one gun should also beware the man with one fishing rod.

A balanced setup with the lightest line you can get away with is a pleasure to use. The braid I use casts better and sets the hook so much better. For the rod/reel I like best, my Diawa Regal LT 1000 and the trout slayer series rod I have is great. The President 20 size is also a good match on that rod. Very light and good backbone.

The Lelands Trout Slayer Series rod was made by Trout Magnet and is now made by BnM and called Lelands TCB rod. This is a good rod and one of my favorites for casting.

If you really like the ACC I would suggest getting some Varivas Twitch Master 3lb or 4lb line. I was using 2lb sos and switched to the varivas 4lb line and almost doubled the casting distance. Now the ACC rod will cast almost as far as my TCB rod with the 2lb varivas line.

i will look into that line, and yes for some reason the ACC rod is not as noodly as my others in the bunch, the 6ft B&M Sharpshooter is nice too but cannot get out there when shore fishing.

2lb diameter braid is the berries. It last forever. I have some that is 4 seasons old. Gets worn on one end swap ends and its good again.
