I love mine! The tripping factor is very true if you are not careful! one thing I explain to the new people in the boat is sit in the seat and then turn around from the outside in. Don't try to step over! I can fish all day and feel great after a trip! my neck doesn't hurt from looking straight down!

They are an alternative to having side by side seating in boats that don't have two pedestal bases but factory or DIY installed bases IMHO are much better way to go ! I realize some boat manufactures don't give you that option. I tried them , didn't like them. Never figured out a way to keep them tight and didn't like stepping over the center brace .

I would consider lawn chairs first.

I've had a set of them. The problem I had with them was keeping everything tight. I liked the adjustability, but running down the lake the knobs would back out. I've had more than one client nearly fall out of the boat. I went to something else.
