    Default Skipping School

No, not like High School, but skipping for fish.
This guy has a pretty good technique for skipping under piers, limbs, brush, whatever, that I thought was interesting. I need to work on this a little more...

Very good info. Don’t bass fish much but I do use a chatter bait when I do. I’m more inclined to fish for crappie around docks. May need to try his methods

skipping jigs is much more finite that pitching a big bait like his , but if you understand the dynamics involved it can be accomplished with a small light jig too .
more surface area on the bait makes it much easier to skip it , we often use fat body baits to skip jigs , the jig does not need a heavier weight as I have heard mentioned before , we skip 1/32 jigheads sometimes with 4 lb test .

I used to work with a guy that said as He was skipping from the boat one day near a pier, the lure skipped a little too far and went up on the bank, and a big tom cat pounced on it at the exact moment He was snatching it back, resulting on a face full of treble hooks for the big yellow tom cat.
He said it put up one of the best fights He ever had with that rod and reel. I reckon that cat locked it in 4 wheel drive and "got jiggy wid it"! (BTW - He cut the line).
