I hear many on here like it a lot. I have used some Viscous. It is good line.
I will have to find some SOS
i have been using mr crappie 4 lb and Ande 4lb line for crappie, yesterday my son gave me a spool of SOS in 4lb line, i did not fish with it yet, but it seems real limp and soft, can't wait to see how it cast vs the other 2 lines any thoughts on 4lb lines that will cast better than most.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
If you are looking for "true" 4# test I suggest the Varivas Twitch Master VLS line. I used SOS line for years...it's good line but as with the overwhelming majority of US market lines it breaks way above its rating. The 4# SOS will break right at the 6.5 pound mark...it has a diameter of .200mm. The 4# test Twitch Master has a diameter of .148mm. You will get much better casting distance with the Twitch Master. And if you step up to the 6# test Twitch Master the diameter is .185mm.....still smaller than SOS 4# test line and will cast further.

The SOS seems to pickup memory and get brittle quicker than mr crappie.

Great info their Alphahawk, the SOS line is designed for the trout magnet if I’m not mistaken….so it’s meant for casting small stuff. I’ve personally never tried it. I haven’t heard of this twitch master either but you have me curious, the diameter gap is big for being the same #….resulting in greater distance like you mentioned. Does it come in Hi-Vis though? I’m real big on that, personally. My favorite line by far is Suffix Elite Hi-Vis 4#…..$12 for 330yd, but it’s the best mono I’ve fished.
The Varivas Twitch Master VLS nylon is a premium Japanese line. The Term VLS is for very low stretch. You can check out the Varivas website to see if you like the color or not. It is gold in color and I can see it with no problems....I no longer use clear lines as I cannot see them at all. I also can no longer see the SOS lines. The SOS line that is meant to be used with the Trout Magnet is their 2# test line....they do not recommend their 4 and 6 pound test for the Trout Magnet....those lines are just too large to effectively cast a 1/64 ounce Trout Magnet very far. Here is a chart talking about ratings and diameter difference between US market lines and Japanese lines. This chart is a little bit outdated but is still a good reference....the Japanese are making nylon lines smaller and smaller in diameter as time goes by. The standard for Japanese 2# test line is still around .128mm but there are now several 2# test nylon mono lines at or around .117mm. I currently have a reel spooled up with Varivas 2# test fluorocarbon line that has a diameter of .117mm and it will cast a Trout Magnet a long way....plus it lays on the spool like a good nylon line. Have not fished with it yet but as soon as my doc clears me to go fishing with this new knee I have...which I fully expect to do on this coming Tuesday, I will find out how well it handles fish.

As Alphahawk mentioned the VARIVAS Twitch Master is very low stretch nylon monofilament line, super thin, in a gold color that's easy for the our human eyes to see. If you like hi-viz green, take a look at the VARIVAS Sight Edition nylon. It's a tad bit thicker with a bit more stretch than the Twitch Master VLS. It's an excellent all-purpose, hi-viz, mono line, with excellent castability for panfish, trout or bass. The Sight Edition is available in IGFA rated lb class strengths, making it a great line for tournament use or those in aiming for line-class records.
Additionally, as Alphahawk described, VARIVAS line follows the Japanese line size rating system. The Japanese Silk link that he shared is a great resource for more about this as is the Japanese fishing line size info page on the VARIVAS website at Japanese Fishing Line Size - VARIVAS In a nut-shell, VARIVAS line is rated to break NO MORE than the lb/kg listed on the label, unless the label indicates "LB OVER," which refers to break at or above the lb listed.
