They are very good for that, but also fishing brush piles. I love night fishing and they are so nice for that. I think you will love one especially since your keeping a boat too!

I enjoy night fishing. That was my plan to put lights under it. Set up and catch some fish.
I am not saying you couldn't use a potoon to shoot docks. I am thinking keeping one positioned would be a chore.

That's also on my to-do list... find a 17ish footer to use for trolling and casting and brush piles. With hopes of being able to put a small tent on it....

So I picked this boat up for $500 just down the road towards the lake. Trailer is in pretty good shape. Motor runs, not good yet, but it’s getting there. Pontoons are solid. Replaced the deck ($300), new carpet ($250), new console ($280), upgraded to rack steering system ($200) and we went to the lake. I’ve since added the 2001 Minn Kota Power Drive 50 that was on my grandfathers pontoon. It has a bad circuit board I’m still working on bypassing but it does work. I bought the Garmin Echomap 73SV for $400 on sale at Bass Pro last month. I’ll be buying the garmin trolling motor in the spring hopefully if the motor is still holding up. It’s a 1987 Sylvan Adventure 16 with a 1989 Mariner 60hp.
It’s by no means a Barletta but it’s mine and it’s paid off

So I used to have a little John boat and I went down the road to the boat ramp and saw that boat backed off into the woods at the back of the property. Well the lady that lived there said when her husband got sick in 2017 they stopped using it but he cleaned the carbs and everything before parking it. Said it ran and everything. Well I told her I can give you $500 cash right now if you want me to take it off your hands, I’ll keep it for myself instead of flipping it for a profit. We made a bill of sale and she gave the the registration card.

I have an 18 ft fishing model that I put a 80lb Ultrex on with rod holders all around the rails, livescope on the front with mega imaging at the console the ultrex controls the boat great and the spot lock is a great tool to have my main features I like are the built in cooler built in livewell transport rod racks for the long rods, one thing I did was remove the front stationary seats and replaced them with portable seats for one reason and that is to be able to position your seat at a comfortable distance from the rod holders for spider rigging, we pull cranks with a pair of 16’s off the front then 12’s off the middle then 8’s off the back it really gives you a nice spread and really decreases the amount of tangled lines when all set up it really is a great boat with lots of room to move around and we can comfortably fish 4 guys
