Good for you, was at the dermatologist yesterday and he removed a couple of slabs (sorry couldn’t resist) from my ear. Have to dress for the sport. I have a big old straw hat. Did see a guy the other day with a coolie hat, the triangular pointed ones, sort of neat, I saw a lot of them in Asia and I may get one. Maybe it attracts fish.

A straw hat keeps the bass fisherman away. Put on a ball cap, and stand on the front deck, as soon as you bow a rod one of them will materialize out of then air. Got on a straw hat they won't even notice ya. Kinda funny to watch it

Couple of years ago I bought a "Tilly Airflo" big brim hat, works great, but the price was kinda high.
Years ago walking into work alongside "Fred", He was wearing some kind of safari hat snapped up on one side. I asked what kind of hat it was, He said "Man, it's a Tilly. A buddy of mine paid $300 for it, then sold it to me for $50". I asked How did He get that kind of deal on it. Fred said "My Buddy worked at the Zoo, and wanted a hat to look the part. One day after He bought the hat, while cleaning up in the elephant pen, one of the elephants walked over and quickly swung His trunk over Him, snatched the Tilly off His head, and gulped it down the hatch real quick. A day or two later, while shoveling up piles in the elephant pen, there was the Tilly! He hosed it down, no damage, but it was just never the same to Him, so I got it for 50 bucks".
    True story.
Tilly's have a great reputation for being really, really durable.
    Time will tell.
Oh, by the way, mine was brand new when I bought it, never digested - at least not yet...

I’ve worn Tilley hats since the 1st Gulf War when a Canadian soldier gave me one. Over the years I have bought many but now wear Akubra hats. Never been a Tilley hat made that sold for 300 bucks…at least not by the company.

The new straw hat is a nice rig and did what was expected without flaw .
Fish came fast and easy like always at that spot .
12 foot of water or less and best was in 8 to 10 .
Seemed to really favor a "smoke" color at one stop .
Especially casted way out and drug back really slowly "ticking" the bottom .
Only went from 7 to 9:30 this morning and he had 18 in the box when we left .
ratio of keepers to shorts was 1 to 8 or so .
water temp was 83 and the barometer was high as a cats back as they say .
Strong south wind ,bright sunshine and got warm FAST out there .
bites ranged from really hard takes to soft little pecks and all in between .
greater Canadian geese were really busy early honking up a storm .
hope you enjoy the photos ,and thanks Slab for the expansion on my attachment files uploader .
I don’t like wearing any hat…but it is a necessity. I find all of them to be hot but straw hats are the coolest.

I look for the nearest place to take the hats off. In the winter time I am more apt to wear one. Summer they are just too hot
