Do you mind telling us what brand of pontoon your on? Aren't all pontoons the basic size and shape? What is the length of your shaft? Just at looking at it in the water I would think it was 60". I say that based on the amount of shaft showing above the trolling motor mount. If so, do you think it would work if it was 8" shorter?

Couldn't fix it but when I was referring to basic size and shape, was referring to the pontoons themselves.

I have had my 54" shaft on three different toons never had a problem with it coming out of water and never ran it all the way down usually had 12-14" sticking up above mount.
I would agree with you, but then we would both be WRONG !!!!

After much debate within myself I finally ordered a 60" Lowrance Ghost from BOE. One day I was ready to order the 52", next day I would of changed my mind and go with the 60". Not to excited about the extra length in the shaft (while using or when in storage). Will have it on a quick release bracket so when the kids want to ski and other water activities it will be out of the way. Got to thinking....how could I take advantage of the extra length. When retrieving the motor to stow, a longer shaft will provide you with more leverage when taking it out of the water. As many people have suggested, you can always add length to it depth if need be. If you have the shorter shaft....nothing there if you need it. 60" also comes with a blue tooth remote.

Hate that feeling when I purchase something and then have buyers remorse because I ordered the wrong size. Took a while, and with the advice of everyone, it is going to be a welcome addition to our fishing experience.

Thanks to all who helped me in making the right decision!

One more thing...also ordered a quick release plate and a 3 bay battery charger. BOE has a program where the $ figure you spend on an order you can turn into points for your NEXT order. With my order it comes to $75 that I can take off my next order. Purposely did not order the 3-1 interchangeable ducer that fits on the ghost. They sell for $300. Will turn my points in on the next order and get it for $225.

Won't get it till the end of next month....ordered 3 items and all 3 are back ordered.
