    Default Longline trolling rod

I was curious as to which power of rod do you prefer for longlining roadrunners/jigs. I've been using medium and medium light. Seems good to me.

I prefer a med lite rod and use a 8 ft micro lite from bass Pro.

I use 5’ to 14’ rods for longlining. I prefer medium light action with a slow tip. I want the fish to have time to inhale the bait but plenty of backbone to get the fish thru the other lines with a minimum of tangles.

Medium light for me. Mine range from 6' to 18'. I'll second what M R Dux said about the backbone.

I dont really pay attention to what it is labeled, just has to have enough backbone to set the hook and enough give to keep from ripping the lips if they turn back towards the structure when the rod is still in the holder. I also like a soft tip on them so I can see if I pick up debris or my plastic gets pulled down by bluegills/short fish. So I use UL to ML depending on make/model. 5' up to 12'.
